Beautifully evokes the quiet at the end of the battle, as the wounded lie softly groaning, the living clean and sharpen their swords, and the ravens flutter down to feast. Then the drums and horns rouse the warriors to their task, some chanting and screaming to fan the battle frenzy, and others donning their still-bloody bear-sarks. Ah, the glory—to hold one’s sword aloft, to test oneself against the enemy, and finally to lie in a puddle of one’s own spouting gore.
